Dr. Fischer is a lifelong resident of southeast Michigan. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and attended Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 2002. Dr. Fischer completed his residency in family medicine at Ascension Oakland in Warren, MI and joined the Henry Ford Health System upon graduation. He became the residency director for family medicine at Henry Ford Macomb in 2008, and continues in that role.
Dr. Fischer has an interest in medical education and is a clinical professor in the department of family and community medicine at MSUCOM. His clinical interests include helping patients with obesity and value-based care. He teaches a course for 3rd year clerkship students at Henry Ford with an interest in fostering future primary care physicians. He is also vice-chair for the graduate medical education committee and chair of the clinical and educational work hours subcommittee for the 5 hospital Henry Ford Health System. In his personal time, he enjoys photography and exercise. Particularly cycling with his wife and son.
