This session provides a forum for discussion around residency redesign in family medicine graduate medical education. In 2023, the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors and American Board of Family Medicine developed a program to Strengthen Outcomes and Assessments in Residency (SOAR). Participants will consider how to differentiate process measures versus outcomes measures in family medicine training. They will provide input on what forums would be useful to the osteopathic family medicine community for purposes of strengthening the performance of their graduates. Also in 2023, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medicine Education Family Medicine Review Committee and the American Board of Family Medicine invited family medicine programs to submit innovations around time-variable residency training. Participants will engage with residency director(s) enrolled in Advancing Innovations in Residency Education (AIRE). Finally, participants will consider how learning networks can reduce work and improve communication within their programs.
