Student Leadership Opportunities

Lead Today. Shape the Future of Osteopathic Family Medicine.

Through the Student Association of the ACOFP, you'll have opportunities to build leadership skills, collaborate with students across the country, advocate for the profession, and make a lasting impact on osteopathic family medicine. Whether you want to lead on your campus or nationally, ACOFP offers a variety of ways to get involved.

Start Locally

Every ACOFP student member is part of the Student Association and can get involved through their local ACOFP Family Medicine Chapter at their COM. Local chapters provide opportunities to:

  • Develop leadership skills

  • Organize educational and community service events

  • Promote osteopathic family medicine on campus

Contact your local COM Chapter for more information on how to get involved.

Connect with your local ACOFP Affiliate Society to become involved at the state or regional level through networking, leadership opportunities, advocacy, committee service, and by serving as a delegate to the ACOFP Congress of Delegates.

Serve on a National Student Committee

National student committees are one of the best ways to develop leadership experience while making a meaningful impact on students across the country.

Applications open each spring for one-year appointments to four committees:

  • Education Committee - Develop educational resources including blogs, podcasts, workshops, webinars, and convention programming for osteopathic medical students.

  • Membership Recruitment Committee - Support student chapters through recruitment initiatives and resources that help chapters grow and thrive.

  • Public Relations Committee - Promote student activities and osteopathic family medicine through social media and special projects.

  • Resolutions Committee - Research, develop, and present resolutions to the ACOFP Congress of Delegates on issues important to students and the future of osteopathic family medicine.

Committee applications are accepted annually from April through June.
