Friends & Family
Promote and Support
Any significant other, family member, or friend of a medical student, resident, physician, or other allied health professional can get involved within the ACOFP.
Be Part of the Professional Family
ACOFP has been strengthened by the unwavering support of families who stand beside those in medical school, residency, and practice. From guiding future physicians through the challenges of training to offering steadfast encouragement throughout their careers, families have played a vital role in shaping the osteopathic community.
Their dedication has sustained and inspired countless physicians, reinforcing the values of compassion, resilience, and lifelong learning that define ACOFP’s mission.
In 1990, President Harold Thomas, DO, FACOFP, established the Auxiliary to the ACOFP (AACOFP) to further support the future of the profession. For 35 years, this group made a lasting impact, fostering a sense of community and service.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to the mission of AACOFP. Your dedication has built a lasting legacy—one that lives on through cherished family events, innovative volunteer opportunities, and the unwavering spirit of support that strengthens osteopathic physicians and their loved ones. Because of you, our community continues to thrive, bringing families together and shaping the future of our profession. Thank you for being part of this journey!
(The opportunity to read through the Auxiliary to the ACOFP's history is coming soon!)

Here’s how you can participate:

Every effort, big or small, strengthens our community. We’d love to have you involved!
The Advocates for the AOA (AAOA) is a non-profit organization made up of the spouses, friends, and family of osteopathic physicians and supporters of the osteopathic profession.
The goal of the Advocates is to support public health and educational activities that inform and engage patients and families on the benefits of osteopathic medicine and public health.
