This weekend, ACOFP will host its highly anticipated Future Leaders Conference at its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. Scheduled from June 7 to June 9, 2025, this immersive program is designed to cultivate leadership skills among emerging osteopathic family physicians, including residents and early-career professionals.
For the first time, 2025 will see two cohorts of Future Leaders, with the second conference taking place December 5-7, 2025, also in Chicago.
A Launchpad for Leadership
The Future Leaders Conference is a cornerstone in ACOFP's commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders in osteopathic family medicine. By providing participants with the tools, insights, and mentorship necessary for effective leadership, the conference aims to empower attendees to take active roles in their communities, practices, and the broader healthcare landscape.
Of the estimated 279 Future Leaders Alumni since 2009:
- 242 (86%) have served or currently serve on an ACOFP committee.
- 24 (8%) have served or currently serve on the Board of Governors.
- 1 has served as ACOFP President, a remarkable feat given the years it takes to ascend to that role on the Board.
- 7 of the total 16 current Board of Governors (43%) are Future Leaders Alumni.
Comprehensive Curriculum
Over the course of three days, attendees will engage in a dynamic curriculum that includes interactive workshops and collaborative projects. Participants will also have opportunities to develop essential skills such as effective communication, how to lead a team, and ethical decision-making.
Mentorship and Networking
A hallmark of the conference is the emphasis on mentorship and networking. Attendees will connect with peers as well as seasoned ACOFP leaders who will share their experiences and guidance. These interactions are designed to inspire and inform participants, providing real-world perspectives on leadership challenges and opportunities within the field.
