Health Care Provisions in the American Relief Act, 2025

On December 20, 2024, the House of Representatives passed the American Relief Act, 2025. This continuing resolution (CR) would fund the government until March 14, 2025. Attached is a topline summary of the bill’s health care-related provisions. Key policies include: 

  • Extending Medicare telehealth flexibilities (until March 31, 2025); 
  • Extending the Medicare Low Volume Hospital and Medicare-Dependent Hospital designations (until March 31, 2025);
  • Extending the Medicare Acute Hospital Care at Home Program (until March 31, 2025);
  • Delaying Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payment cuts (until April 1, 2025); and
  • Specifying that the balances on the PAY-GO scorecards at the end of the 118th Congress shall be zero (averting sequestration).
