The ACOFP Congress of Delegates is the legislative body that shapes policies and priorities in osteopathic family medicine. Each year, representatives convene at the ACOFP Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars to address key issues, elect leadership, and advocate for the future of our profession.

As students, we have the power to influence change by submitting resolutions, and I wanted to give you an update on the resolutions we submitted this year.

Student-Led Resolutions for 2025

This year, the Student Association of the ACOFP has submitted the following resolutions.

  1. Addressing COMLEX-USA Discrimination in Family Medicine Residency Programs: Promoting transparency in residency selection for DO students by advocating for parity of COMLEX and USMLE in residency selection.
  2. Support for Physician Use and Education of Food Prescriptions: Encouraging physicians to integrate food prescription programs into patient care and advocating for better nutrition education in medical training.
  3. Reducing Financial Burden on Medical Residents and Fellows: Calling for ACOFP to advocate for deferred interest accrual on student loans during residency to ease financial strain and support those pursuing family medicine.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you attend in person or virtually, student participation in Congress is essential. Your voice helps drive policies that impact your education, career, and patient care.

Join us in shaping the future of osteopathic family medicine—change starts with us. I encourage all of you to join us at the Congress of Delegates to see the process and consider being a voting delegate for your state or delegation next year. Learn more about being a delegate.
