The open call for speakers for ACOFP ‘25 in Palm Springs, CA, received over 70 applications. The final lineup is approved for almost 40 hours of dually accredited CME, with new speakers and increased diversity.
The keynote by Mike “Doctor Mike” Varshavski, DO, on Thursday will undoubtedly be a high point. On Thursday, you’ll also see many sessions covering the business of medicine. Friday features a focus on clinical updates, and on Saturday, physician health and wellness take center stage.

“Update on Clinical Resilience and Well-Being" with Michael Moskowitz, DO. This session will cover establishing a clinician resilience and well-being program within a health system to address and prevent burnout. Participants will learn how to conduct a comprehensive survey to assess burnout levels and how to implement evidence-based initiatives aimed at reducing burnout and enhancing clinician satisfaction. Dr. Moskowitz is vice president of Clinician Resilience and Well-Being for Catholic Health on Long Island, NY, where he leads programs to promote resilience, reduce burnout, and improve overall clinician well-being.
“Legal and Ethical Requirements for Osteopathic Research” with Al Anthony Mercado, Esq. To IRB or not IRB, can sometimes be the question. If you are involved in osteopathic research or want to become involved, don’t miss this interactive discussion of all things related to the legal and ethical requirements of such research. Mercado has practiced in the areas of healthcare law, health care compliance, malpractice, and advocacy for over thirty years.
“Point-of-Care Ultrasound: POCUS Basics for Your Practice” with Nils Brolis, DO, FACOFP. This interactive activity will support participants in bringing or growing the use of POCUS in their own practice, including a review of ultrasound physics, machine operation, and clinical cases where POCUS has demonstrated benefit. Dr. Brolis is Assistant Dean for Simulation at Rowan-Virtua SOM, where he oversees the use of medical simulation in the teaching and assessment of medical students.
