Sarah Cole, DO, serves as current president of the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors and is a longtime member of ACOFP. Previously, she served as president of the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians and as the American Osteopathic Association representative to the Electronic Residency Application Service Advisory Committee.
Dr. Cole has nearly twenty years’ experience in family medicine education. A graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed an osteopathic internship at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, residency at Mercy Family Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, and faculty development fellowship at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She graduated from the National Institute for Program Director Development in 2015 and has been the program director at Mercy Family Medicine St. Louis since 2016. She precepts medical and osteopathic medical students from AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Ponce Health Sciences University, and St. Louis University School of Medicine. She presents on family medicine and osteopathic family medicine education nationally and her publications have appeared in American Family Physician, Annals of Family Medicine, Journal of Family Practice, and Osteopathic Family Physician.
