Life as a medical student requires significant dedication to sitting in classes, late night study sessions, and focusing on the future. Much of our time is spent studying and ensuring that we are taking the best possible steps towards our careers as physicians. With so much going on in our day-to-day schedules, it can be easy to push off the aspects of our lives that do not have a deadline attached to it. As simple as it may sound, ensure that you include in your weekly schedule some time to focus on yourself. Whether that be going to the movies with friends, hanging out with family, or even a little personal mental break at home. Pausing to take a moment to let go of all the constant chaos in our brains and making time for the relationships outside of medical school can be greatly beneficial to your mental and emotional heath! As future osteopathic physicians, we should be just as aware of the importance of our personal health in all aspects. One of the osteopathic core tenets states that the body is not a collection of discrete systems and organs, but that it is an intricate unit formed of body, mind, and spirit.
