About the Award

The Emerging Osteopathic Student Leader Awards recognize up to three outstanding osteopathic medical students with a demonstrated commitment to family medicine and leadership within ACOFP. Each recipient will receive a $2,500 award to help offset medical school or personal expenses. These awards aim to support and encourage future leaders in the profession. Review the eligibility criteria and application requirements below.

Award Criteria

  • Must be an ACOFP student member in the academic year of OMS II, OMS III, or OMS IV.
  • Must be a member of the ACOFP student chapter and national ACOFP.
  • Should have previously held a leadership position in the national ACOFP, student chapter, or a philanthropic organization.
  • Attendance at least one state or national ACOFP convention, either virtual or in-person.

Application Requirements include:

  • Completed online application.
  • Current CV.
  • At least one letter of recommendation.
  • A 2-minute video outlining your goals and aspirations in connection to your osteopathic philosophy, showcasing why you are a qualified candidate and should be considered for the award. Include details about an activity or event that positively impacted your community or school. Provide either: (1) Your level of participation and leadership in that activity, along with plans to apply that experience to future patient care, OR (2) Your involvement with a local, national, or international philanthropic organization.
  • A 300-word essay detailing your participation in a local, national, or international philanthropic organization, activity, or event that had a positive impact on the community.
