CME REPORTING
ACOFP submits CME credit to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) monthly on your behalf. ACOFP only keeps track of CME earned through ACOFP activities. You can view your AOA CME Activity Report by logging in to your account on the AOA website.

All members of the AOA, other than those exempted, are required to participate in the continuing medical education (CME) program and to meet specified CME credit hour requirements for each CME cycle.
At its mid-year meeting in February 2016, The AOA Board of Trustees approved resolutions pertaining to AOA’s CME program.
AOA CME REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFIED FAMILY PHYSICIANS
On July 21, 2016, the AOA Board of Trustees opted to eliminate the 120 general hours of CME required to maintain membership with the AOA. Diplomates, however, must currently maintain 120-150 CME hours with a minimum of 50 hours in the area of the specialty to maintain the certification.

PRIMARY CERTIFICATION
To complete component 2 requirements in the primary specialty of Family Medicine, a physician must earn 150 CME credits per three-year AOA CME cycle, of which at least 75 credits must be Category 1 with at least 25 of those credits in Category 1-A. The 2016-2018 CME Guide for Osteopathic Physicians was approved in February 2016 and will be effective beginning January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2018. View the guide for the most recent CME guidelines regarding the 2016-2018 CME cycle. Remember that all AOA members, other than those who are exempt, are required to participate in the CME program and meet specified CME requirements for the 2016-2018 CME cycle.
