ACOFP’s OMT Boot Camp is intended to be a convenient refresher for those looking to improve existing OMT techniques and to re-introduce previously learned "hands-on" approaches. Instructors will present, demonstrate and discuss interactive case presentation scenarios, including related OMT techniques.

Dermatology and Wound Care
Thursday, March 30 | 9:00 – 11:00 am ET

Participants will be introduced to methods of proper wound and skin lesion descriptions, review wound care products and navigate through the compression therapy/garments. Attendees will uncover different types of debridements and biopsies of wounds and lesions and discuss incision/drainage of abscesses. Billing and coding associated with these procedures will also be reviewed.  

Podiatry

This workshop will provide evidence-based, best practice techniques to conduct basic procedures of the foot and ankle. The participant will leave with an increased comfort level in the following: digital block, callous paring, ingrown nail treatment, and plantar wart treatment.

OMT Next Level: Cervical Thoracic

Refine your osteopathic manipulative medicine diagnoses and treatment and advance your skills with OMT Next Level. The cervical thoracic section will consist of case-based presentations that focus on a brief review of diagnostic procedures for specific conditions where OMT is indicated, with most of the time devoted to hands-on instruction of specific OMT techniques for specific cervical thoracic conditions. This workshop will count towards recertification requirements  from AOBFP for OMT.

Common Braces and Splints in Primary Care

This workshop provides education and hands-on training for splinting and bracing of the lower and upper extremity for common sprains and fractures seen in the family medicine and urgent care settings. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to recognize injuries that need immobilization, splint/brace appropriately and recognize complication of improper immobilization.

Ultrasound Guided Procedures

The advances in ultrasound resolution, technology and cost have put this modality well within the scope and ability of every practicing family physician. This workshop will provide hands-on experience with ultrasound guided procedures. At the end of this workshop, participant should have a basic knowledge of clinical ultrasound technology for diagnosis and procedural guidance and be familiar with technical steps to use ultrasound technology for the benefit of family medicine patients.

Pediatric Minor Procedures

This workshop will provide background information and various techniques around removal of foreign bodies from ears and noses, as well as minor finger procedures including subungual hematoma, stuck ring, fishhook removal and digital blocks.

OMT Next Level: Headaches

Refine your osteopathic manipulative medicine diagnoses and treatment and advance your skills with OMT Next Level. The headaches section will consist of case-based presentations that focus on a brief review of diagnostic procedures for specific conditions where OMT is indicated, with most of the time devoted to hands-on instruction of specific OMT techniques for specific headaches. This module is awaiting approval from AOBFP to count towards the recertification requirements from AOBFP for OMT. A decision is anticipated prior to the conference.

Intrauterine Devices

This workshop will provide participants with a greater understanding and technical expertise in placement and removal of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and minor gynecological procedures, such as endometrial biopsy. Topics to be covered include indications, contraindications, equipment needed, pre-procedure patient preparation, technique, complications, post-procedure patient education, CPT billing codes and ICD-10-CMS diagnostic codes. Learn tips and techniques designed to minimize provider risk for complications and facilitate patient comfort.
