In celebration of our 75th anniversary, ACOFP invites students and residents to enter a creative video competition that recognizes the past 75 years of our community and envisions their hope for the next 75 years.
The deadline to enter the competition was February 14, 2025. ACOFP will publish all entries on our Facebook page for others to "vote" for their favorites by liking or reacting to the video entry. The top liked videos will be presented to a panel of judges, who will select the three winners based on the following criteria:
Creativity in content selection and presentation.
Anticipated breadth of public appeal and interest.
Relevance to the theme, focusing on a topic related to ACOFP 75th Anniversary.
Accuracy and ability to substantiate claim.
The selected winners will be announced and celebrated in Palm Springs, CA, where their videos will be played for attendees of ACOFP '25.
Prompts for reference:
Elaborate on a word or phrase you feel represents your hope for the next 75 years of osteopathic family medicine and/or ACOFP and what the world would look like if that came true.
Describe how osteopathic family physicians can improve their communities in the next 75 years with their distinctive mind, body, and spirit approach.
Given the challenges currently facing health care in the United States, how is osteopathic family medicine prepared to handle these topics and other emerging problems over the next 75 years?
* Please feel free to create your own content, the topics above are just for reference.
FAQs
The winners and prizes of the contest will be announced during the Opening General Session at the Annual Convention in Palm Springs.
The winner of the 75th Anniversary Video will be determined by which finalist video has received the most “likes” between 3/5/2025 and 3/19/2025. To ensure that all finalists start the competition with an equal opportunity to win the prize, we will discount any likes the video has received before the start of the competition. To vote for one of the finalists, click the “like” button on as many finalist videos as you want (you can only “like" each video once).
Your video should preferably be 1080p so that it will look its best when being played at Annual Convention.
The video must not exceed 2 minutes (including titles and credits). Videos between 1 and 2 minutes are expected.
Only one. Each individual contest participant is restricted to one video submission only, whether an individual or a team submission.
There is no limit to the number of people that can be on a team, but there must be one team representative who submits the video on the team’s behalf. Also keep in mind that each person is only allowed to submit (be part of) one video, whether as an individual or as part of a team submission.
Yes, if your friends (or other people) are going to appear in your video, you should get their permission in writing. If a person who will appear in your video is under 18, you must get written permission from that person’s parent.
Just because a picture or song or video is on the internet does not mean that it is in the public domain. Most content on the internet is in fact owned by someone and before you can incorporate it into your video you must have permission.
A panel of judges selected for their expertise in family medicine and involvement with ACOFP, will review and score the top three liked videos. The judges will evaluate each video based on criteria such as relevance to the theme, creativity, presentation, clarity, and overall impact.
Submissions will be due on February 14, 2025.
The videos should focus on a topic or theme related to ACOFP’s 75th anniversary. See suggested prompts above for inspiration.
The first-place winner will receive $2,500, the second-place winner will receive $1,500, and the third-place winner will receive $1,000.
Student and resident members of the ACOFP are eligible to participate in creating a video for this competition.
