Legislative Body 

The ACOFP Congress of Delegates is the ACOFP’s legislative body, composed of appointed members from each affiliate or state society. It elects new officers and members to serve on the Board of Governors. Congress meets each spring at the ACOFP Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars.

Affiliate Societies

Each affiliate society receives one voting delegate, who shall be a member in good standing, and shall be entitled to an additional voting delegate for every 25 members thereafter, or the majority fraction thereof, active members, whose national and affiliate dues are current.

Affiliate societies receive one voting family medicine resident voting delegate who is currently enrolled in good standing in an AOA or ACGME residency program located within the geographic boundaries served by the ACOFP affiliate society and is in good standing with the ACOFP national and affiliate society.

Affiliate societies receive one osteopathic medical student voting delegate from each approved College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) ACOFP Student Chapter located within the geographic boundaries served by the ACOFP affiliate society and is in good standing with the ACOFP national and affiliate society.

Resident Council of the ACOFP

One voting delegate and one alternate delegate shall represent the Resident Members of the ACOFP. The delegates shall be appointed annually by the Resident Council of the ACOFP. 

Student Association of the ACOFP

One voting delegate and one alternate delegate shall represent the Student Association of the ACOFP. The delegates shall be appointed annually by the National Student Executive Board of the Student Association of the ACOFP. 

Each affiliate society is required to send recommendations naming its delegates and alternate delegates to the ACOFP Executive Director at least 30 days before the first day of the Congress of Delegates annual meeting. The recommendations must be made in writing.
