We look forward to having you join us in New Orleans this March for the 57th Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars.

ACOFP '20 is offering over 30 category 1-A credits, including pre-con credits. Please note that the member (including first year in practice and retired) and nonmember physicians full conference registration rate includes access to all CME lectures, exhibit hall and a ticket to the President's Reception and Banquet. Additional registration fees are required for selected programs, as indicated. The early-bird convention rate ends on February 7, 2020.

B. OMT BOOT CAMP

 
The ACOFP OMT Boot Camp is designed for osteopathic family physicians and residents preparing for the OMT Board Performance Examination. Instructors will present, demonstrate and discuss interactive case presentation scenarios, including related OMT techniques. Additionally, the sessions will assist family physicians who want to update their OMT skills to help patients in their practices.

We have dedicated an entire day of application based, hands-on training in various skills of in-officedermatologic procedures,including AN INTRODUCTION TO BASIC WOUND CARE. At the conclusion of this workshop participants will be able to: perform procedure preparation; review various skin pathologies; demonstrate techniques for excisions of cysts, lipomas and other skin lesions; cryosurgery techniques, basic suturing and nail surgery; BASIC WOUND CARE TECHNIQUES; discuss surgical safety and possible complications, identify the equipment needed, proper usage and vendor locations; and use proper coding for reimbursement and promote procedures to patients.

The ACOFP Test Taking Skills Boot Camp is open to osteopathic and allopathic family physicians preparing for their Board examinations. The course is designed for residents and graduate family physicians who want to update their skills and knowledge in preparation for their written Board Certification or Recertification examinations. The goal is to help improve study and test taking skills utilizing high-yield study techniques.

This interactive workshop focuses on providing the latest information in type 1 diabetes (T1D) management for primary care clinicians. Case examples and presentations from experts in T1D care are used to demonstrate how diabetes technologies, adjunctive therapies, and psychosocial care can help improve patient engagement and outcomes. Upon completion, participants should be able to: " Recognize the clinical implications of using outcomes measures other than HbA1c in T1D care " Identify the benefits and limitations associated with using CGM in people with T1D from both the provider and patient perspectives " Address the education and processes needed to help individuals with T1D start insulin pump therapy " Identify the advantages and disadvantages of new insulin formulations and the off-label or investigational use of anti-hyperglycemic medications for individuals with T1D " Develop a greater awareness of the common psychosocial challenges that individuals with T1D experience and of the strategies and resources to help them

The advances in ultrasound resolution, technology and cost have put this modality well within the scope and ability of every practicing family physician. The ACOFP Procedural Medicine Committee offers this course designed to give the participant a basic knowledge of science and application of outpatient ultrasound. The course will provide hands-on experience with abdominal, musculoakeletal and vascular ultrasound. It will also review obstetrical ultrasound and ultrasound guided procedures. At the end of the course, the participant should have a basic knowledge of clinical ultrasound technology for diagnosis and procedural guidance, and be familiar with technical steps to use ultrasound technology for the benefit of famlly medicine patients.

This workshop will provide the participant with a greater understanding and technical expertise in placement and removal of IUDs and minor gynecological procedures such as endometrial biopsy, vulvar biopsy and condyloma removal. It will cover indications, contraindications, equipment needed, pre-procedure patient preparation, technique, complications, post-procedure patient education, CPT billing and coding, and IC-D-9-CM diagnostic codes.

Many times we are trained to perform only one treatment at a time, and to stick with one process. Often patients do not respond immediately to just one method. The goal of this course is to demonstrate how to easily incorporate multiple modalities in the treatment of commonly occurring musculoskeletal complaints, and to do so in limited time constraints.
