Namey/Burnett Preventive Medicine Writing Award Competition
The ACOFP Preventive Medicine and Medical Preparedness Committee is pleased to announce the fourth annual Namey/Burnett Preventive Medicine Writing Award competition to honor the best preventive medicine papers submitted by osteopathic family practice residents , interns and osteopathic medical students. Applicants must also be a member of the ACOFP.
The competition has designated three prizes* to award:
First Prize:
The First Prize winner will receive:
$500 for the best overall scientific paper on preventive medicine
ACOFP plaque of recognition
Round trip airfare to the ACOFP Annual Convention & Exhibition in Denver, Colorado, March 12-16, 2008.
Three nights lodging at the Convention Headquarters Hotel
The winner also will present their paper as part of the Preventive Medicine and Medical Preparedness Committee Lecture
Second Prize:
The Second Prize winner will receive:
$250 award
ACOFP plaque of recognition
The winner may also have their paper read at the ACOFP Annual Convention & Exhibition.
Third Prize:
The Third Prize winner will receive:
$250 award
ACOFP plaque of recognition
The winner may also have their paper read at the ACOFP Annual Convention & Exhibition.
All winning papers will be available on the ACOFP website.
Award Criteria:
All papers must be submitted using the ACOFP publications guidelines
, available on the ACOFP Web site.
Papers will be judged on:
Originality
Pertinence to family physicians and patients
Adaptability as patient hand-outs
Writing skill
Submission Process:
The completed application form and paper must be received at ACOFP Headquarters by January 14, 2008 to be eligible for the competition.
