ACOFP Resident Recruiter Program
As a resident in osteopathic family medicine, here's your chance to help medical students and fellow residents, learn about osteopathic family medicine and the ACOFP.

The ACOFP Resident Recruiter program enhances the education of medical students, inspiring many to become osteopathic family physicians while helping osteopathic family medicine residency programs recruit the best candidates, ensuring the long-term health of our specialty.

As an ACOFP Resident Recruiter, you will automatically be seen as a leader within osteopathic family medicine. But based on your location, you may also get additional leadership opportunities. For instance, you may also be asked to accompany an ACOFP elected officer when speaking about osteopathic family medicine during medical school visits. And, you might even be invited to attend the ACOFP Annual Convention as our guest and speak with medical students at the event.

Here's how ACOFP Resident Recruiters contribute your time and talents during the one-year volunteer term that runs from March to March.

  • Talk about the value of choosing an osteopathic family medicine residency to students inquiring about training at your program
  • Share your knowledge about your program's training curriculum and options for a family medicine rotation
  • Meet with students considering the program or arrange for another resident to meet with them
  • Exhibit with your program or with the ACOFP Resident Recruiters at the Osteopathic Residency Fair at the Annual Convention
  • Participate and/or attend the Resident Recruiter Workshop at the ACOFP Annual Convention
  • Provide a “Spotlight on Resident Recruiter/Residency Program” interview about your program to be highlighted in the SAACOFP e-newsletter
  • Provide interviews about your programs recruitment tools and experiences to be highlighted in the Resident Recruiter e-newsletter

ACOFP Resident Recruiter recommended requirements include:

  • Respond to student telephone or e-mail inquires within 48 hours
