ACOFP provides a library of information specifically for Residents with access to residency forms, paperwork, eligibility requirements, exam information and application forms.

Residents should contact the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) for information on Certification Requirements and Applications.

ACOFP also offers a number of avenues for residents to earn Continuing Medical Education.

Research Recognition

The ACOFP Public Health and Wellness Committee presents the annual Namey/Burnett Preventive Medicine Writing Award competition to honor the best preventive medicine papers submitted by Osteopathic medical students, interns or residents and fellows.

Annually, ACOFP and its Osteopathic Clinical Research Committee ask Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Students, Family Practice Residents and Faculty Members to participate in the Poster Presentations during the ACOFP Annual Convention & Exhibition.

Get Involved

One of ACOFP’s strategic goals is to increase the number of osteopathic medical students who choose an osteopathic family practice residency program. The influence of an osteopathic family practice resident is the primary factor leading to a student’s decision to choose an osteopathic family practice residency. ACOFP encourages resident members to volunteer for The ACOFP Resident Recruiter Program, which helps foster influential communication between osteopathic medical students and osteopathic family practice residents.

ACOFP also has a New Physician and Resident Committee that seeks ways to serve the needs of Resident Members and physicians in practice less than 5 years. Help this committee provide guidance for these physicians preparing or just entering practice, especially in practice management and business skills, procedural skills, technology, regulatory and legislative matters that affect their practice.
