ACOFP Leadership
ACOFP is led by a Board of Governors, Congress of Delegates and various Committees and Task Forces. These bodies help guide ACOFP with a vision for the future of osteopathic family physicians

ACOFP provides an online Physician Expert Network for members to designate their specialty area of expertise to be used for article submission for the Osteopathic Family Physician News, serve as speakers for national and state meetings, and be an industry resource for your association. Volunteer for a national Committee or Task Force! Committees and Task Forces help ACOFP address issues and challenges confronting the profession as well as conduct the business of the association. To become involved in ACOFP Committees, send an email to Peter Schmelzer, ACOFP’s Executive Director by November 28. Committee appointments are confirmed by the Board of Governors in early January.
Earn recognition at the highest level with the designation of Fellow or Distinguished Fellow for dedication, experience and contributions to your organization and profession.
Become a Preceptor and actively guide students through their osteopathic education. ACOFP provides resources for its volunteer preceptors as well as a comprehensive portal for students and Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine to search for preceptors.
ACOFP acknowledges the contributions of its members through various awards including: ACOFP Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year, ACOFP Lifetime Achievement Award, ACOFP Distinguished Service Award, ACOFP Young Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year Award, Namey/Burnett Preventive Medicine Writing Award, ACOFP State Society Awards, and ACOFP Student Chapter Awards.
