PETER A. GUINEY, DO, FACOFP RECEIVES FELLOW AWARD OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC FAMILY PHYSICIANS

Peter A. Guiney, DO, FACOFP of East Williston, New York received his designation as a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) during its Annual Conclave of Fellows Award Banquet on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the ACOFP 45th Annual Convention & Exhibition in Denver, Colorado.

The honorary designation of Fellow is bestowed upon those candidates who have contributed outstanding national and local service through teaching, authorship, research, or professional leadership. They have also contributed outstanding service in their professional career and family practice duties in their community and civic activities.

Dr. Guiney is a 1988 graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Westbury, New York. Presently, he has a private practice in Ozone Park, New York and is a medical director at Daytop Village, a drug treatment facility in Far Rockaway, New York. He has served as Family Practice Residency Program Director at Peninsula Hospital Center since 1999.

Dr. Guiney developed one of the first Hospitalist Medicine Fellowship Programs in the country at Peninsula Hospital. He has authored original research in the area of osteopathic manipulative treatment for pediatric asthma published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association in 2005.
