DAVID E. GARZA, DO, FACOFP RECEIVES FELLOW AWARD OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC FAMILY PHYSICIANS
David E. Garza, DO, FACOFP of Laredo, Texas received his designation as a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) during its Annual Conclave of Fellows Award Ceremony on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the ACOFP 45th Annual Convention & Exhibition in Denver, Colorado.
The honorary designation of Fellow is bestowed upon those candidates who have contributed outstanding national and local service through teaching, authorship, research, or professional leadership. They have also contributed outstanding service in their professional career and family practice duties in their community and civic activities.
Dr. Garza is a 1989 graduate of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (T.C.O.M.) in Fort Worth. He is certified through the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians (1999, 2007) as well as the American Board of Family Medicine (1993, 1999, 2007), and is a Diplomat of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.
An active member of the Texas ACOFP since 1996, Dr. Garza currently serves as the chapter’s president, is a Trustee of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association Board, and a delegate for both organizations. He also serves as a Board Member for the TMF-Health Quality Institute, and is President-Elect for the T.C.O.M. Alumni Association.
Dr. Garza served for seven years on the Texas Medical Board, and currently serves on the National Board of Medical Examiners, the third osteopathic physician appointed in its ninety-three year history. He served as Chief of Staff and Chairman of the Board for Doctors Hospital of Laredo, and has been active in numerous civic capacities.
The ACOFP Fellows Crest for Writing Excellence was awarded to Dr Garza for his Fellows paper submission entitled, “Enantiadromia and Other Causes of Professional Burn-Out Syndrome Among Physicians.”
