Residency Program Directory - Revamped to be Faster and Easier to Use
The 'Guide to Selecting an Osteopathic Family Practice Residency Program', now in its second edition, helps students identify the locations, scope of training provided, salaries and benefits and contact information for more than 100 osteopathic family practice residency programs around the country.
Beyond the comprehensive demographic information, it provides the rationale for pursuing osteopathic training and information on how to participate in the match process.
Use the newly updated 'Residency Program Directory' to research programs that are of interest to you.
The Resident Recruiter contact information is listed under each program, for easy access to students looking for answers to their questions.
Note: Strongest Links Renamed Resident Recruiters. The ACOFP Resident Committee has renamed the Strongest Link program - Resident Recruiters. The committee feels that Resident Recruiters better describes their duties as their mission is to go out and recruit students into family medicine or their program.
Introducing ACOFP’s Newest Member Benefit
The Osteopathic Multi Media Resource Center
The ACOFP Osteopathic Multi Media Resource Center is a rich educational resource for recommendations on relevant blogs, PDA software, podcasts, and wikis for osteopathic family physicians, residents, and students.
Osteopathic Blog Resources
Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject – such as medicine. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Medical blogs range from Best Health Policies/Ethics Weblog to Clinical.
Osteopathic PDA Software Resources
In medicine, PDAs have been shown to aid diagnosis and drug selection and some studies have concluded that their use by patients to record symptoms improves the effectiveness of communication with hospitals during follow-up.
Osteopathic Podcast Resources
A podcast is a digital media file, or a series of such files, that is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and personal computers. People can "subscribe" to this feed by submitting the feed address to an aggregator (like iTunes - software that runs on the consumer's computer).
Osteopathic Wiki Resources
Wikis are different from blogs in that they are created and managed by a community of users. A wiki allows multiple users to view and edit the same information from a central Web location. The wiki tracks and saves changes so that you can always revert to a previous edition.

This Month’s OFP News Must Reads
Using Osteopathy in the Diagnosis of Peptic Ulcer Disease - This case study illustrates the role of an osteopathic physician in both diagnosing and treating peptic ulcer disease. An osteopathic perspective was utilized while obtaining the patient history and in formulating the diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease. In the course of treatment, this case study demonstrates the effective implementation of an osteopathic approach combined with conventional medicine.
Health Care Choices for Low-Income Chinese Patients - In the United States, Chinese immigrants continue to use traditional Chinese medicine along with Western medicine. Complex patterns of use depend on beliefs about the therapeutic qualities of each system and vary by demographic characteristics within immigrant populations. This study explores the use of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine among low-income Chinese patients in an urban community health center.
PDA Software Podcasts & Osteopathic Medicine - Content designed specifically for the osteopathic community is flourishing as osteopathic family physicians embrace PDA's and podcasts.
