Call for Physician Stories! Take Action!
Tell Us How the Medicare Payment Cuts Will Affect You.
Drastic cuts in Medicare physician payments are scheduled for 2008. How will the 9.9 percent cut affect your practice?
The ACOFP and the AOA want to know how the annual reimbursement cuts are impacting your ability to provide patient care.
We are compiling physician comments and anecdotes to distribute to Congress. Unless they hear about your experiences as physicians and the effects these cuts are having on your patients and community, they will not see the urgency in our quest to reform the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) system.
Your stories make an impact. Share them today!
Support the "Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act" (H.R. 1093/S. 588)
The AOA needs your help to garner support for the “Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2007” (S. 588/H.R. 1093) introduced by Sens. Harry Reid (D-NV) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Reps. Kendrick Meek (D-FL), Jon Porter (R-NV), and Kathy Castor (D-FL).

Become a Strongest Link - Help Medical Students and Fellow Residents
As a resident in osteopathic family medicine, here is your chance to help medical students and fellow residents learn about osteopathic family medicine and the ACOFP.
The ACOFP Strongest Link mentor program enhances the education of medical students, inspiring many to become osteopathic family physicians while helping osteopathic family practice residency programs recruit the best candidates, ensuring the long-term health of our specialty.
As an ACOFP Strongest Link mentor, you will automatically be seen as a leader within osteopathic family medicine. But based on your location, you may also get additional leadership opportunities. For instance, you may also be asked to accompany an ACOFP elected officer when speaking about osteopathic family medicine during medical school visits. And, you might even be invited to attend the ACOFP Annual Convention as our guest and speak with medical students at the event.
Here is how ACOFP Strongest Links contribute your time and talents during the one-year volunteer term that runs from July to June.
- Talk about the value of participating in an osteopathic family practice residency to students inquiring about training at your program
- Share your knowledge about your program's training curriculum and options for a family practice rotation
- Respond to student telephone or e-mail inquires within 48 hours
- Meet with students considering the program or arrange for another resident to meet with them
- Have your contact information listed online in the ACOFP Guide to Selecting an Osteopathic Family Practice and Manipulative Treatment Residency Program
It's that easy! Just tell your Program Director that you would like to represent your program as an ACOFP Strongest Link mentor.
