Our unique training program will help you sharpen your clinical skills, increase your knowledge of geriatric medicine, and enable you to qualify for academic and administrative positions. In the next decade, family practitioners like you will spend 75% of their time caring for the elderly. As a result, specialized geriatrics training will enable you to provide better and more effective care for your patients and will offer you greater career opportunities. To meet the growing demand for geriatricians, the New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine offers one- and two-year geriatric fellowships to family medicine residents. Moreover, the Institute for Successful Aging has consistently ranked in the top 20 of U.S. World News & Report’s best graduate schools in the U.S. for geriatric medical education. UMDNJ-SOM was the first osteopathic medical school to have an AOA-accredited geriatric fellowship. Graduates of the program have assumed directorship positions in osteopathic medical schools, fellowship programs, and geriatric clinical facilities. In addition, our graduates have gained national recognition both at the federal level and in their field of expertise.
