ACOFP’s Residency Program Directory - Revamped to be Faster and Easier to Use
The 'Guide to Selecting an Osteopathic Family Practice Residency Program', now in its second edition, helps students identify the locations, scope of training provided, salaries and benefits and contact information for more than 100 osteopathic family practice residency programs around the country. Beyond the comprehensive demographic information, it provides the rationale for pursuing osteopathic training and information on how to participate in the match process. Use the newly updated Residency Program Directory to research programs that are of interest to you. Resident Recruiter contact information is listed within each residency program profile - easy access for students looking for answers to their questions.
Register for the 2008 ACOFP Convention!
This year’s convention will feature a workshop on Basic Disaster Life Support. Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) is delivered through in-person didactic and interactive lectures with standardized slide sets and an accompanying test. Computer generated simulation will be used to enforce concepts learned in each chapter. The BDLS course is a review of the all-hazard topics including natural and accidental man made events; traumatic and explosive events; nuclear and radiological events; biological events; and chemical events. Also included is information on such critical areas as the health care professional's role in the public health and incident management systems, community mental health, and special needs of underserved and vulnerable populations.
Sign up today for the Pre-Convention Ski Package
On Sunday, March 9 through Monday, March 10, 2008,
ACOFP has arranged a Pre-Convention Ski Package for attendees. Winter Park has more than twenty-four lifts including seven high-speed express quads, one high speed six person chairlift, three triple chairlifts, seven double chairlifts, five magic carpets, and one rope tow. In addition to the many ski runs, Winter Park is a classic mountain town nestled against a fabulous background and is full of quaint boutiques, delightful cafés, and picturesque scenery.
ACOFP Fit for Life
CNN’s Accent Health says “Dance with your children.”
Back to Campus
Student Doctor Lauren Strohm, Student Association of the ACOFP President, and six family physicians provided PCOM students with a panel discussion entitled “Jobs, Money and Making a Difference” as part of Primary Care Week Celebration. Each doctor introduced him/herself, explained how they got to their position and what their life was like: how they paid off loans, and how they knew they were making a difference. Students in the audience were then encouraged to ask questions. Five of the doctors work in academic medicine, and one as a partner in a New Jersey Family Practice office.
