Continuing Medical Education

ACOFP is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to sponsor continuing medical education (CME) for osteopathic physicians.

The CME Guide for Osteopathic Physicians pdf — 2007-2009 is designed to provide osteopathic physicians with a basic guideline as to how they may obtain CME credit. All AOA members, other than those exempted, are required to participate in the CME program and to meet specified CME credit hour requirements for the 2007-2009 CME cycle.

ACOFP provides various avenues for its members to achieve the required CME.

Support Opportunities
ACOFP, the largest specialty organization of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), schedules two CME meetings per year for its members. ACOFP’s Program Committee selects a curricula of 30 to 35 hours of evidence-based AOA and AAFP accredited post graduate CME for the benefit of the 9,000 practicing DO family physician members. ACOFP is accepting topic proposals from outside CME funding sources. ACOFP has developed a Prospectus for Medical Education Companies for more information.

Online CME

ACOFP now provides CME online so that members can earn CME credit at their convenience. ACOFP members can earn their CME on their own time through Podcasts and archived online courses.

ACOFP Intensive Update & Board Review in Osteopathic Family Medicine

ACOFP also provides a three day review for osteopathic family physicians to refresh their knowledge of family medicine clinical topics or to prepare for the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians’ Recertification Exam.

The 2010 ACOFP Intensive Update & Board Review (.pdf) in Osteopathic Family Medicine will be held September 23-25, 2010 at InterContinental Hotel & Resorts, Chicago O'Hare
Registration Information will be available Spring, 2010

The Intensive Update & Board Review is also available for members to experience at their own pace as a three-disk CD set based on ACOFP's 2007 Intensive Update & Board Review.
