Continuing Medical Education
ACOFP is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to sponsor continuing medical education (CME) for osteopathic physicians. The CME Guide for Osteopathic Physicians — 2007-2009 is designed to provide osteopathic physicians with a basic guideline as to how they may obtain CME credit. All AOA members, other than those exempted, are required to participate in the CME program and to meet specified CME credit hour requirements for the 2007-2009 CME cycle.
ACOFP provides various avenues for its members to achieve the required CME.
ACOFP offers two national conventions every year with CME specifically directed at osteopathic family physicians. The ACOFP Annual Convention and Exhibition is held every March and provides attendees with more than 25 AOA Category 1-A CME credit hours. Also, the ACOFP offers more than 25 AOA Category 1-A CME credit hours at the AOA Annual Convention every fall.
