CHAPTER SHOUT OUT
This month’s Chapter Shout Out goes to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine! PCOM has maintained an active presence both on campus and off campus through various recurring events and service projects.

One of the most notable of these being their “Cases and Coffee” meetings with their SAACOFP Chapter Advisor, Dr. Peter Bidey. Each month, they have held these meetings with students to discuss various topics such as how to read EKGs and how to interpret spironolactone-induced hyperkalemia. In addition, this month the chapter hosted a panel of fourth year medical students who recently matched into family medicine residencies as well as residency directors from both rural and urban practices.

The PCOM chapter collaborated with Primary Care Progress to provide free pediatric physicals to Boy Scout troops across the Philadelphia area and organized about 25 student and 5 faculty volunteers for the event! The chapter has also been working with PCOM’s Family Medicine and Psychology Departments to provide an integrated health support team for high-risk patients to achieve their health goals through weekly phone call check-ins, motivational interviewing, and empathy.

Great work, PCOM!
