Committees of the Board of Governors

Executive Committee

The mission of the Executive Committee is to advise the ACOFP President, take actions as appropriate in lieu of ACOFP Board meetings, and provide oversight for the Executive Director’s performance. 

Finance Committee
The mission of the Finance Committee is to review as often as is indicated ACOFP’s fiscal and operational status, and to ensure that the financial operations are consistent with policy and procedures.


DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNANCE & OPERATIONS

Archival & Historical Committee
The mission of the Archival & Historical Committee is to identify and preserve the records and artifacts that are unique to the history of the osteopathic family medicine.

Audit Review Committee
The Audit Committee provides independent oversight into ACOFP’s accounting and financial reporting and oversees the annual audits. The audit committee may oversee a broad range of areas under the blanket of this primary purpose.

Awards Committee
The mission of the Awards Committee is to accept, evaluate and recommend the applications for Fellows, Physician of the Year, and other ACOFP awards.

Constitution & Bylaws/Policy & Organizational Review Committee
The mission of the Constitution & Bylaws/Policy & Organizational Review Committee is to maintain accurate up to date Constitution and Bylaws documents of the ACOFP; serve as a resource to officers and state societies; maintain an accurate up to date policy manual; and to recommend changes in policy and procedures to the Board of Governors.

Congress Credentialing Committee
The mission of the Congress Credentialing Committee is to ensure that the voting members of the ACOFP Congress of Delegates are appropriately credentialed, in accordance with the bylaws of the College.

Ethics Committee
The mission of the Ethics Committees is to evaluate and address issues that may affect the ACOFP membership. Editorial ethical concerns may be forwarded to the Committee by the Congress, the Board of Governors, and/or any concerned member of the ACOFP or non-member. Advise Congress of Delegates and officers on positions the ACOFP may take on ethical issues. 

Executive Council of Conclave of Fellows
The mission of the Executive Council of Conclave of Fellows is to encourage, recognize, and reward those board certified osteopathic family physicians who have demonstrated leadership within the Osteopathic Profession and in their communities on a local, state, and national level. 

National Student Executive Board
The mission of the National Student Executive Board is to act as a voice for the ACOFP Student Association and work with the ACOFP student chapters at the colleges of osteopathic medicine to develop future leaders of ACOFP and the profession of osteopathic family medicine.

Nominating Committee
The mission of the Nominating Committee is to solicit, interview and recommend to the ACOFP Congress of Delegates qualified candidates for the positions of President-elect, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Governor, Resident Governor, Student Governor, Speaker, and Vice Speaker.

Past Presidents Council
The mission of the Past Presidents Council is to provide guidance, advice and historical perspective to the ACOFP Board of Governors.

Resolutions Review Committee
The mission of the Resolutions Review Committee is to review all resolutions that are placed on the agenda of the Congress of Delegates and assure that the grammar and format of all resolutions meet the ACOFP standards.

Search Committee
The mission of the Search Committee is to solicit, interview, and recommend to the Board candidates for the Executive Director position.   

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Committee on Education & Evaluation
The mission of the Committee on Education & Evaluation is to ensure the quality and guide the development of osteopathic family medicine residency training programs through its Basic Standards, Program Director training, In-Service exam, and program reviews.

CEE Subcommittee: Intensive Update & Board Review     
The mission of the CEE Subcommittee: Intensive Update & Board Review is to provide the ACOFP Intensive Update and Board Review course in osteopathic family medicine annually.

CEE Subcommittee: In-Service Exam 
The mission of the CEE Subcommittee: In-Service Exam is to develop, implement and evaluate results for an annual In-Service Examination of osteopathic family medicine residents, and to provide residency program directors with a resource by which they can evaluate training of individual residents.

eLearning Committee       
The mission of the eLearning Committee is to 
coordinate content and scheduling for webinars on clinical topics, practice management & OMT procedures.

Future Leaders Committee         
The mission of the Future Leaders Committee is to coordinate the ACOFP’s activities related to its Future Leaders Conference.

New Physician Committee          
The mission of the New Physician Committee is to seek ways to serve the needs of new physicians in practice less than 5 years and seek ways to involve these professionals in ACOFP initiatives and activities.

Osteopathic Clinical Research Committee    
The mission of the Osteopathic Clinical Research Committee is to promote, support, and encourage research in osteopathic family practice. This responsibility shall not be limited to physicians, but includes students and others closely related to the osteopathic profession.

Osteopathic Principles & Practice Committee
The mission of the Osteopathic Principles & Practice Committee is to establish direction, provide oversight, foster communication and facilitate coordination for four OPP Subcommittees.

OPP Subcommittee: Print Publications           

The mission of the OPP Subcommittee: Print Publications is to help to provide 6-10 annual Journal articles in Osteopathic Family Physician publication. Publish and maintain Somatic Dysfunction in Osteopathic Family Medicine book.

OPP Subcommittee: Teaching Resources
The mission of the OPP Subcommittee: Teaching Resources is to maintain and create OMT Videos, provide OMT Teaching Resources (COMs/ OPTIs) and iPhone Apps.

Preceptorship Committee           
The mission of the Preceptorship Committee is to identify and educate high quality preceptors to promote excellence and innovation in the education of 3rd and 4th year osteopathic medical students to enhance the student’s interest in osteopathic family practice.

Procedural Medicine Committee
The mission of the Procedural Medicine Committee is to identify, evaluate, plan and implement educational programs and workshops in procedural medicine for the benefit of ACOFP members with the goal of improving and increasing procedural skills among Osteopathic Family Physicians, residents and students.

Resident Council Committee
The mission of the Resident Council Committee is to develop a strategy to effectively communicate with residents and develop resources to ensure osteopathic residents remain involved in ACOFP.



DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS AFFAIRS

Convention & Site Committee
The mission of the Convention & Site Committee is to provide educational and social opportunities to enhance the knowledge, skills and expertise of the Osteopathic Family Physician, resident and student.

Program Committee
The mission of the Program Committee is to ensure the educational and collegial integrity of programs presented by the ACOFP, including oversight of all Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities at the ACOFP Spring and Fall Conventions developed by other committees of the ACOFP.

Alternative Payment Models Committee    
The mission of the Alternative Payment Models Committee is to identify educational and practice management resources for members to use for transitioning to the Patient-Centered Medical Home model of primary care.

Membership Committee
The mission of the Membership Committee is to increase ACOFP membership via retention and recruitment.

New & Emerging States Committee


DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Committee on Men’s Health
The mission of the Committee on Men’s Health is to develop appropriate educational and networking opportunities that foster leadership and education among male members.

Special Constituencies Committee

Editorial Committee
The mission of the Editorial Committee is to assure that Osteopathic Family Physician meets member needs for information related to scientific advancements in osteopathic family medicine, socio-economic, practice management, legislative/regulatory matters, and ACOFP educational events, benefits and services. 

Federal and State Legislation Committee
The mission of the Federal & Legislative Committee is to monitor proposed health care legislation and regulation that impacts the ability of osteopathic family physicians to care for patients and be properly reimbursed for professional services.  Provide resource for members and affiliate societies on regulatory, legislative and policy affairs that affect practice rights, privileges, other providers.

Public Relations / FMAHealth Committee
The mission of the Public Relations/FMAHealth Committee is to identify, prepare and to make available marketing communications materials to assist members in promoting their practices, and to raise the visibility of osteopathic family medicine to local and national audiences.

Public Health & Wellness Committee
The mission of the Public Health and Wellness Committee is to develop and disseminate effective strategies for promotion of preventative medicine, healthy life style and wellness practices among both professionals and patients, recruit and involve patients in their own health risk assessment, promote positive life styles and behavioral practices that benefit patients and professionals alike. Incorporate family physicians in national disaster surveillance, planning, response and countermeasures.

Women’s Health & Leadership Committee
The mission of the Women’s Health and Leadership Committee is to develop appropriate educational and networking opportunities that foster leadership development among women members.

DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL AFFAIRS

Liaison to the American Diabetes Association
The goal of the Liaison to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) is to coordinate ACOFP/ADA mission statements, produce high-quality CME lectures, and obtain unrestricted grants.

Liaison to the Health Professions & Nursing Education Coalition (HPNEC)
The goal of the Liaison to the Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition (HPNEC) is to advocate for increased funding for Title VII and Title VII programs.

Medical Outreach Committee     
The mission of the Medical Outreach Committee is to evaluate opportunities, propose actions and support events for Osteopathic Family Physicians, Residents and Students to promote the health and wellness of underserved populations in the USA and internationally.


Liaison to the National Rural Health Association (NRHA)
The goal of the Liaison to the National Rural Health Association is to ensure the priorities of rural America are addressed in health care reform legislation.

Liaison to the Primary Care Organizations Consortium (PCOC)
The goal of the Liaison to the Primary Care Organizations Consortium (PCOC) is to monitor policy issues being discussed among osteopathic and allopathic primary care organizations, and to report and make recommendations to the ACOFP Board of Governors, as appropriate.

Liaison to the Patient Centered Primary Care Coalition (PCPCC)           
The goal of the Liaison to the Patient Centered Primary Care Coalition (PCPCC) is todevelop policies and implementation strategies that help physicians integrate Medical Home concepts into primary care practices.
