Dr. Nelson Receives 2007 Distinguished Service Award From the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL – Kenneth E. Nelson, DO, FAAO, FACOFP is the recipient of a 2007 Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians for his efforts leading to publication of the new book, Somatic Dysfunction in Osteopathic Family Medicine.
As Chair of the ACOFP Committee on Osteopathic Principles and Practice, Dr. Nelson spent more than two years as Editor, working with authors and their manuscripts, sourcing photos and illustrations, and working with the publisher.
Somatic Dysfunction in Osteopathic Family Medicine contains 31 chapters and more than 500 pages of content for the practicing physician, resident and medical student. More than 800 copies have been sold since publication in October 2006.
“Dr. Nelson’s extensive knowledge of osteopathic medicine and his many years as a teacher in our profession run through the pages of this book,” stated Steven F. Rubin, DO, FACOFP dist., ACOFP President.
In addition to expressing appreciation to the individual chapter authors, the ACOFP also acknowledged Thomas Glonek, PhD, Dr. Nelson’s long-time colleague, for his contributions to the book.
The Award was presented March 17, 2007 during the ACOFP Annual Convention in Kissimmee, Florida.
