Competency Based Evaluation for Residency Training Programs in Osteopathic Family Practice and Manipulative Treatment (CBE)
The CBE must be kept at the residency site. If the residency program closes, all CBEs must be forwarded to the ACOFP.

CBE (Competency Based Evaluation)
Q: Does a resident completing an ACGME-accredited residency have to complete a CBE?
A: No. The CBE is used in AOA-approved residencies only.
Q: If a resident didn't do a particular rotation should the evaluator complete the corresponding evaluation form on the CBE?
A: Do not complete it.
Q. When is the completed CBE due?
A. The CBE is due upon graduation and remains on file at the residency program.

Q. If I have completed my residency and passed the AOBFP boards, am I automatically Board certified?
A. No. You are not officially Board certified until you have passed the exam and all your required paperwork has been submitted to the Residency Coordinator at the ACOFP and approved by the ACOFP, the AOBFP and the AOA.
Q. When is the deadline for submission of residency paperwork for the next meeting?
A. It MUST be postmarked by August 1, 2006 or 30 days following residency program completion. Nothing can be accepted past that date.
Q. Can I take the AOBFP boards before my residency program is completed?
A. Yes. You can apply by calling the AOBFP at (847) 640-8477, if you anticipate completing your residency program within 3 months of the exam.

Q. How do I request advanced standing?
A. Make your request in writing to your Program Director. Upon review and agreement, your Program Director will forward your written request and a supporting written request to the ACOFP Committee on Evaluation and Education (CEE).
Q: Can a Program Director assume Advanced Standing will be given to a resident?
A: No. A Program Director must always send a letter of request for advanced standing to the Education Department at ACOFP.
