CHAPTER SHOUT OUT
This month’s Chapter Shout Out goes to VCOM-Virginia!

VCOM student volunteers with Alyshia Merchant (seen in gold), Lupus survivor and founder of MLLG.

This month we would like to shout out the fantastic student members and leadership at VCOM-Virginia! This December, the chapter partnered with a local charity called Making Lupus Look Good (MLLG) to support and empower individuals with Lupus and other invisible illnesses. Student members volunteered to serve food, take guests’ coats, and help facilitate a fundraising gala in downtown Roanoke. VCOM student members also worked together to raise $500 for MLLG by selling VCOM Christmas ornaments to student and faculty. This donation helped the organization purchase wigs for Lupus patients who have lost their hair due to illness or treatment. To top off the month, eleven outstanding VCOM students volunteered with The Giving Tree Food Pantry at Fieldstone United Methodist Church in Christiansburg, VA to serve their community. Students assisted in food distribution, delivery to cars, and weekly food pantry disbursement. We’re so proud of everything you are doing VCOM - Keep up the great work!
